Traditional St. Mary's County Stuffed Ham

The crown jewel of Southern Maryland holiday tables since the 17th century. A cured corned ham slit to the bone and packed tight with tender kale, shredded cabbage, whole yellow mustard seed, crushed red pepper flakes, and aromatic celery seed, wrapped in cheesecloth and slowly simmered for hours.

Our Origins

Rooted in Southern Maryland, Growing Through Family

The Chesapeake & St. Mary's Soil

Southern Maryland's culinary identity is unlike anywhere else in the American South. Positioned between the Potomac River and the Chesapeake Bay, St. Mary's, Charles, and Calvert counties forged a distinct rhythm of cooking governed by the watermen's catches, rich tobacco soil, and cold winter salt cures.

Growing up with Mom and our Aunts in Southern Maryland meant understanding that food was never an afterthought. Stuffed ham was an endurance ritual—standing together over massive wash tubs chopping fresh autumn kale and winter cabbage, hand-kneading whole mustard seeds and red pepper flakes, and tightly stuffing each cut into the ham before boiling it in heavy pots.

Welcoming New Traditions

As our family expanded, our kitchen expanded with it. Gigi brought her passion for structured meal-planning, clean nutrient-dense ingredients, and vibrant seasonal adaptations that keep our home energized and focused on fitness.

Now, watching Jackson, Madison, and Kennedy step up to the stove—learning how to properly season cast-iron skillets, assemble their own weeknight meals, and ask how their grandmother made her sweet potato pies—ensures that our culinary roots remain unbroken. This vault is dedicated to preserving every technique, measure, and memory.
